New Style!

3 min read
Hi Everyone!

It has been a while since I updated my journal so I thought it was about time to update.

After I got out of spring term, I took the summer off. I didn't want to be lazy though, so I set myself two large goals to complete before fall term started up again:
1. Complete a 100 page sketchbook front to back
2. Develop a new, unique style.

The first goal is well underway and I am near completing it. I feel as if I have improved a great deal although I still have a ton to learn. ^^; It takes me a long time to complete each page because I draw really slow so this is a huge goal for me. I still have a lot to do but I'm confident that I can complete it in time!

The second goal to me is more important. I realize that my work has no correlation between the pieces that brings them together so I wanted to develop a unified style. I've been working about two months on a new series of pieces that hopefully you will get to see soon. I will try to post a WIP of one of them soon so you can have a sneak peak of what I'm doing.

Finally, I will be doing some cleaning up on my deviantart page soon. There are a lot of older anime pieces I drew that are nothing more than copies from the original artwork. I don't think that I should keep stuff up in my deviantart page that wasn't original work. To me there is a difference between Fan-art and copying. Back then I didn't know the difference, but now it is time for them to go and for me to move on. I cannot keep these pieces in my gallery anymore. I hope you will all understand and support my decision without too much judgement.

Anyway, I will be starting my fall term in a couple of weeks and look forward to getting back in the swing of things. Until then, I have a  lot of work ahead of me to not only complete these two goals, but to finish some other smaller goals that I have set for myself. Until the next Journal entry, I wish you all the best in your artistic endeavors!

Lovin' Ink

1 min read
Lately I have been more and more into drawing with ink. Before it was merely an annoying tool to outline various subjects with a shaky hand but now it is growing on me as a medium and I've been exploring other ways of using it. I've found many artists here and elsewhere that use ink that I admire and I have been trying some of their techniques. Obviously though I can't publish copies of other people's work so I'll try to get some original stuff up soon, Kay?

I also wanted to say thanks for all the support you have given me during all of the time I have been on DA. I appreciate it more than you know!

:iconmonkeyloveplz:Much Love,

I know I haven't been posting hardly anything lately and for that, I an sorry. My scanner is still broke so no scanning even crapworthy stuff for me. I am trying to improve my digital art little by little, tutorial by tutorial so I don't really have anything to post in that respect either... I'll try to make something cool soon! :iconsadnessplz:

It takes a while to graduate from being a photoshop noob (at least it is taking a while for me!). I pretty much know how to work it now, at least the basics anyway, so all I really have to work on is my drawing skills. I also want to build up my own style. The problem is that I have so many different styles that I admire that it is hard to pick a direction! Any tips on how to build your own style? I've never really seen much here that deals with that topic.

I think that for now, I'll need to take photos of my art and load that up instead. It is starting to bother me how I only have really old stuff on my profile. Please forgive the bad quality of the future pictures, I can't really work my momma's fancy camera past the "auto" button.

Thank you for those who are still sticking with me! I'll try harder to stay more active for your sakes!
